Tindaya is a charming little goat farming village, which sits at the foot of the spectacular Mount Tindaya, one of Fuerteventura’s major landmarks. Tindaya was once regarded as a very religious place and the mountain was considered sacred. This can still be seen today in the form of more than 100 carvings of feet into the smooth rock. These carvings are said to be there to ward off evil spirits. On a clear day at the top of Tindaya you can even see Teide the highest mountain / volcano on Tenerife.
For such a small village Tindaya has a few local bars one of which is called the Tindaya Arms. There is also a small new supermarket, a large multi-sport facility, and a children’s play area. Just a 17 minute drive away, are the stunning beaches and magnificent salt water lagoons of El Cotillo, a tiny, unspoilt fishing village, offering the experience of total tranquillity. Tindaya’s undiscovered, isolated beaches can be accessed via an off-road dirt track direct from the villa (4x4 vehicle recommended). La Olivia and Villa Verde villages offer excellent bars, restaurants and food stores, reflecting the tastes and characteristics of the locals. However, the major resort of Corralejo with its lively atmosphere can be found just a 20-minute drive away.
