Review submitted by Anthony from Saffron Walden (Submitted: 21/08/2008) "We enjoyed a wonderful week in Villa Belo Horizonte. The setting is superb, the views spectacular and the standard of accommodation very high. For August the temperatures were very pleasant (around 26C), and sunbathing on the terrace is certainly not the ordeal it can be in other holiday destinations. The pool is small but perfect for a quick dip, and the barbecue was a welcome surprise for us. A few tips: try the half day introduction to scuba at nearby Canico de Baixal (Manta Diving)- good value for money and the sealife is amazing. There are several good places to eat around there too, as well as in canico itself and of course Funchal. A drive into the mountains is a must, as well as the cable car to the Tropical Gardens in Monte. If you have kids, take them to the Aquapark in Santa Cruz. Special thanks to the very helpful Sr. Pestana who helped us settle in and made sure we had all the information we needed. If you are planning to stay in Madeira, this property is highly recommended." |

Review submitted by Chris and Carolyn from Brighton UK (Submitted: 05/01/2008) "Our third Christmas in Madeira at a villa and our best villa to date - fantastic location and views, one of the best locations on the island for the weather in December, (we even managed dips in the pool), very private as two empty plots as neighbours, good access to supermarkets and Funchal, spacious and beautifully kept interior and facilities, Snr Pestano was attentive, charming and helpful. It was the first time we had stayed for New Year fireworks and words fail us on descrbing them - absolutely amazing. Really only two comments which are intended to be helpful! New pillows needed and a welcome basket of wine, bread, cold meat, olive oil etc would be much appreciated by new visitors to Madeira who arrive late and may not know their way around supermarkets." Owner reply: Thank you for your generous comments. We have followed your advice, and new pillows have just been introduced. |

Review submitted by Laura from Oxford (Submitted: 29/10/2007) "What a fantastic location! We watched dolphins from the terrace and the changing colours of the sea provided a beautiful view as we sunbathed.... The villa is spacious and comfortably furnished. Pillows rather questionable, other bedding pristine. We were happy with the bathroom facilities (perhaps an attachment to fix the shower head to the wall in the first bedroom). The pool was too cold even in the hot sun and a heater would be good! Facilities excellent with a couple of suggestions for the charming owner Mr Jose Pestana - please leave some oil. salt, pepper - just basics - in the cupboards. Such a nuisance to have absolutely nothing and we just didn't use a whole bottle of olive oil in one week! Same with basic kitchen washing cloths and liquids. Even dishwasher tablets. The property was not cheap and therefore these could be included surely... Location convenient for Garajau and large supermarket. Car absolutely essential. Fantastic fantastic location. " |

Review submitted by John from Midlands (Submitted: 27/09/2006) "This is a splendid house, beautifully situated and quite luxurious in all respects. It is a tad more 'urban' than the photographs suggest but once inside the only views are over splendid cliffs and sea withinin well kept and flowery gardens and patio. All equipment works well including CD / tape players in every room and satelite TV in every room. Kitchen equipment is good including an 'American' fridge with ice and water dispenser. Excelent washers & dryers in the basement. During our visit a new sea and swimming access was being built with cable car that will give perfect sea swimming only 100 yards away. The pool is small but clean and great fun, not heated but fine for swimming in September. Good daily supervision and welcome by the owner who collects rubbish and was helpful about local amenities. Our only criticism might be that every cupboard was bare on arrival. Some salt, pepper, milk, bread etc plus a cold bottle of white wine would have been nice." |
