This luxury villa is located in one of the best climatic areas of the island of Madeira. The house was built at the edge of a cliff overlooking the sea, near Arco da Calheta. It is 60 meters above the sea level and offers a dazzling view of the bay and along the coast of Madeira. Located in a quiet rural area, alongside a banana-plantation, just a 45-minute drive from the airport and 30 minutes from Funchal. Shopping facilities and restaurants in Calheta, 5 minutes drive.
This property offers high quality lodging, with air conditioning. It consists of four spacious rooms (one double, three twins); two of them are junior suites, which can accommodate a third person. All bedrooms have a private bathroom with marble flooring, in addition to excellent balconies with spectacular sea views. A spacious open area of 90 m2 encompasses the entry hall, dining room/breakfast room, living room and a large lawn terrace. Everything is magnificently decorated. The modern style of the living room combines beautifully with regional traditional style antique mahogany wood furniture (in the past this wood has come from the Laurisilva forest - sponsored by UNESCO). A fully equipped kitchen is also available.
The villa has a magnificent swimming pool (10 x 5 m) with a natural water treatment system. It is situated at the top of a cliff overlooking the sea and magnificently framed by grass areas, whinstone walls and beautiful flowerbeds full of exotic Madeira plants and flowers. There are private parking spaces for five cars.
Founded in 1572, the parish of Arco da Calheta is set between the mountains and got its name from the surrounding hills and its proximity to the parish of Calheta. After the discovery of the island this parish was one of the first to be submitted to huge agricultural explorations, giving origin to extensive lands with noble houses, chapels and cultivated areas.
Arco da Calheta has currently around 4,000 inhabitants. Its economic activities include agriculture and cattle breeding, wood sawing, carpentry, blacksmith’s workshops, bread making, blocks manufacture, trade and services.
The busiest time of the year is the 7th and the 8th of September when the parish celebrates its annual procession and a fair to honour the patron saint São Braz.
