A nicely refurbished traditional Algarvian house quietly located in the centre of the village of Pêra, 4 km from Armação de Pêra, and 100 m from market, minimarkets, restaurants, cafés, bars, ATM, pharmacy, etc. Nearest beaches are Praia Grande and Salgados, 3.5 km distant. It is also 4 km from the thematic park Zoomarine, 5 km from Algarve Shopping and 40 km from Faro airport.

Nestled in private grounds, walled for most privacy, the house comprises 3 bedrooms (2 doubles, 1 twin), 1 shower room, a generous living room with settees, sofa bed, TV and dining area seating 8 persons and equipped kitchen with breakfast table. Outside one finds a large garden with some fruit trees and a large terrace with an octagonal swimming pool (5m Ø), BBQ, garden furniture, pool shower, laundry with wash machine and private parking for 3 cars.

For many centuries, Armação de Pêra was essentially a small village, inhabited by fishermen, who had been drawn there by the great abundance of fish, particularly tuna and sardines. After salting, the fish was sold for consumption in the southern and central regions of Portugal.

In the eighteenth century, as a defence against frequent attacks by pirates, a prosperous fishing-boat owner sponsored the building of a small fortress on top of a hill overlooking the sea. The chapel inside this fortress, dedicated to Saint Anthony, also dates from this period.

Nowadays, fishermen can still be seen engaging in their typical activities on the beach at Armação de Pêra.

Visitors are also drawn to this area by the great expanses of white sand and warm water, so that the village has a lively, colourful and, above all, cosmopolitan look.

The area known as Praia Grande Beach begins at the urban limits of Armação de Pêra, with its westerly point at the Alcantarilha stream and its easterly limit defined by the Salgados lagoon, a site of special ecological interest given its importance to various protected species.

Given its scope and also its distance from the neighbouring Armação de Pêra Beach, the Praia Grande Beach is much less crowded and able to provide all the peace to be drawn from the seemingly endless landscape of dunes and golden sands running down to the serene blue of the seas.
