Townhouse in a modern residential area of São Martinho do Porto, 600 m from the local beach and 300 m from the town centre, where one finds all sorts of shopping facilities, market, restaurants, cafés, banks, etc..
It is approx. 100 km from Lisbon airport.
Spread over two floors and with 133 m2 of living area, the townhouse comprises 4 double rooms (2 of them with extra bed for a third person), 1 bathroom, 1 shower room, living room with sofas, TV and dining area, fully equipped kitchen and a 100 m2 terrace with shower, BBQ and garden furniture.

About 12 km south of Nazaré and 100 km north of Lisbon, on the northeast side of a narrow sheltered bay, rather like a lake and known as "concha" (conch shell), because of its unusual shape, is the little seaside resort of São Martinho do Porto, much favored by families with small children.The São Martinho do Porto beach is extended throughout an astonishing bay, framed by the beautiful blue of the Atlantic Ocean. Because of its geographic features, this beach is ideal for children and also for nautical sports.
The town is a prosperous fishing center and Summer resort with very little industry. Critics claim it is the place where Winter spends its Summer holidays. For that reason it is ideal for those who think the sweltering Summers of southern Portugal are too hot for them. This probably explains the large number of Dutch, German and other cooler climate Europeans amongst its visitors. It also explains the unusual habit of the main tourist restaurants to have their menus in Dutch instead of the more frequent English elsewhere. A sizeable group of German, Dutch and French nationals live there permanently and own a few businesses. It has a Winter population of around five thousand that increases more than tenfold in August.
The town is neatly divided in two sections. The lower section, built around the northern and eastern shores of the bay is adjacent to the beach, caters for the majority of tourists and occasional visitors, and is where most businesses, restaurants, bars and accommodation are located. The upper section located on the north-easterly hills overlooks the bay. There you'll find the majority of the permanent dwellers, the Church and the businesses that cater for the locals. The older and more traditional generation of Summer and weekend dwellers tend to have their houses in the upper section as well.

Esteban, 30.04.09 Hola, Te pido disculpas por tardar tanto en escribirte. Nuestra estancia en Portugal, ha sido muy agradable. La casa nos ha gustado mucho. Todo es muy nuevo y está muy limpio y muy bien cuidado. La decoración es muy bonita y acogedora. Aunque nosotros no pudimos emplearla, la terraza con barbacoa es un una maravilla, sobretodo para el verano. La urbanización es muy tranquila, y el nos gustó mucho San Martinho do Porto y su playa. También nos gustó la cercanía a los lugares que queríamos visitar (Nazaré, Lisboa, Fátima, Sintra, Cabo de Peñas, Coimbra,...). El precio de la estancia nos pareció bastante económico. El trato con los dueños también ha sido muy cómodo y sin ningún problema. Creo que es una buena elección tanto para pasar unas vacaciones en el propio lugar, como para usarlo de punto de alojamiento y visitar todos los alrededores (como hicimos nosotros). En resumen, estamos muy contentos con la estancia, no destacaré ningún aspecto negativo. Perdón por no haberte traducido el texto al portugués. Manuel, 18.09.10 Bonjour à tous, Un petit mot pour vous parler de cette charmante maison de São Martinho do Porto: Les chambres sont spacieuses et trés agréables ainsi que la salle de bain du haut. Une petite douche est à l'extèrieur pour ceux qui préfèrent se laver sous le soleil .... Une salle à manger agréable qoique qu'en été on aime rester sur la terrasse!! De plus, l'áccueil est chaleureux; coupe de fruit, fleurs à notre arrivée et surtout une maison TRES propre. Nous étions 9 adultes, 2 enfants et un bébé: cette maison a été fonctionnelle. Bon séjour à ceux qui choisirons cette maison. Manuel |
