The mountain house is located 1530 metres high, in the middle of the Carinthians Nockberge region, in Saureggen. Saureggen is a small hamlet with a few farms between Ebene Reichenau and Turracherhöhe. The local water springs and marvellous alp air contribute extensively to the relaxing environment. Road access to the mountain house both in Summer and Winter. Saureggen belongs to the municipality of Ebene Reichenau, on the border to Carinthia / Styria, close to Turracherhöhe. The nearest airport is Klagenfurt, 60 km away. On request, we will send you detailled driving directions.

Though the alp house is not a wooden hut in the basic sense, it is 1530 metres high in a mountain area, semi-detached from the farm main building where the owners' family lives. The house is very spacious and consists of a nice, very comfortable combined kitchen-living room, very well equipped (with dishwasher, big fridge with freezer compartment, etc.). 1 double room 2 twin rooms make place to sleep up to 6 persons. The couch in the sitting room can be converted in a sofa bed. 1 bathroom and a large sunny terrace complete the offer.

The mountainhouse has central heating, making it rather comfortable when you return from your ski activities.

Shopping facilities in nearby Ebene Reichenau (7 km) with a goos supermarket, bank and gasoline station.

Walking paths directly in front of the door, as well as bicycle and mountain bike tracks. The all year round alpine coaster "Nocky Flitzer" in Turracherhöhe (7 km) is a unique experience for both adults and children. There is also the possibility to visit the wellness centres of some of the hotels in Turracherhöhe.
There is a golf club atth ebeginning of Bad Kleinkirchheim, 11 km further.
In a radius of 30 km one finds marvellous lakes with bathing possibility.
Bad Kleinkirchheim with its 2 thermal baths is 15 km distant.
In Winter one finds nordic and alpine ski, snowboarding, ski schools for the family in Turracherhöhe (7 km). Toboggan directly in front of the door.

This is the centre of a wonderful trekking/walking area for all types of persons, from the light walk up to the demanding trekking. In Winter you are 7 km from the family oriented skiing area of Turracherhöhe with ski schools, ski rental company and inns with very good kitchen.

Summer
From late May through November the picturesque town of Turracher Höhe at an altitude of almost 1.800 m above sea level presents a magnificent pageant. The scenic interplay of the high peaks and the three idyllic mountain lakes Turracher See, Schwarzsee and Grünsee makes it a place of outstanding beauty.

Austria’s largest pine wood forest
The Turracher Höhe is surrounded by Austria’s largest Swiss stone pine forest. Stone pines count among the extremely rare species of conifers, growing in specific altitudes around the tree line. The Swiss stone pine is a slow growing, compact, extremely cold-hardy tree which can reach an age of 1000 years.
