Miguel, at Lomba da Fazenda, 3 km from the Vila do Nordeste and only 30 minutes from the island's volcanic core, this group of recovered traditional houses enables their visitors to enjoy the pleasures of the sea, mountain and of the good local cuisine. Shopping facilities and restaurants are 300 meters distant, Lombo Gordo, a beach with natural water pool is 3 Km, and the capital city of Ponta Delgada 77 Km away.

Converted into a tourist facility, it consists of nine country stone houses, in a closed condominium, with private parking, adapting the typical rural stone house style to modern day comfort needs.

Dully equipped, the T1 cottage apartments, with 50-70 m² living area, comprise 1 bedroom, living room with TV and radio/CD player, fully equipped open plan kitchen, bathroom and terrace with BBQ and sea view.

Lomba da Fazenda deserves a halt because of its interesting endemic park, situated near the coast, amidst beeches and heather, offering impressive views over the rugged coastline. It belongs to the parish of Nordeste.

As the name implies, the small town of Nordeste marks the north-eastern point of the island and it is considered the ‘end of the world’ of the inhabitants of the island, for whom the trip from Ponta Delgada to Nordeste means – in Azorean terms – a very long journey, with this place not offering much distraction.

Nevertheless, due to a very dynamic municipal administration, Nordeste has become a genuine ‘nature tourism centre’, with marked paths, a camping and some old water mills having been restored and opened to the public. For everybody who is an amateur of savage, unspoilt nature, this area covering several nature reserves is a genuine paradise, providing long hikes, some can even require more than a day, and offering grandiose views across magnificent landscapes.
