It is situated in Monchique, an area classed as one of outstanding beauty and near to the edge of Alentejo.  Alentejo is a stark contrast to the Algarve and is famed for its excellent wines and numerous vineyards along with rural villages and busy towns. The property offers the advantages of a beautiful quiet location but with good access and within 30 minutes drive of beaches, all sorts of tourist attractions and golf.

A detached 2 bedroomed villa in 2 acres of land sleeping 6 people, spacious and with own pool (nobody shares it with you) and great for families, walkers and romantics! Endless hours of sunshine, peace and privacy are here for you to enjoy.
The property comprises 1 double and 1 twin bedroom, bathroom with shower, equipped kitchen with dining area and spacious lounge with British satellite TV + DVD player and a double sofa bed.   Outside, guests enjoy a private pool (3m x 3m, 1 m deep, heated by solar cover), terrace, garden, BBQ, garden furniture and parking.   The white building is where the washing machine is, as well as an extra bathroom.

You are welcome to wander around the land, picking the fruit to make a freshly squeezed juice for your breakfast or as a garnish to sizzling barbecued food. The trees are lemons, orange, pomegranates, figs, tangerines and walnuts. Oranges and lemons fruit most of the year round, the pomegranates and walnuts ripen in the Autumn.

There is a good restaurant/bar 2 minutes drive, where you can get a beer for 60p and a bottle of wine from about £3. Monchique which is 5 minutes drive offers all the facilities a holidaymaker requires without any high rise hotel developments.  Local cafés providing a great place for the children to mix with others and for parents to relax. Monchique still retains many of its Portuguese origins and influences and is known for its outstanding beauty and walking.

The houses of Monchique display many of the traditional features of the architecture in the Algarve - white walls, carved stonework, stripes of color around doors and windows - but with their "saia" chimneys (literally "skirt") quite different from those found on this part of the country.

The narrow streets that wind up the steep hillside, revealing fresh and green views at every turn, lend the town a certain exoticism to which camellias, hydrangeas and fruit trees add a fragrant suggestion of gardens and orchards.  An opportunity to discover an aspect of the Algarve unlike any other.

Monchique is best visited on foot.  A walk trough the steep streets of the town centre is rewarded with the views of magnificent hills, glimpsed between houses, and moments of calm in unsuspected corners. At the end, the memory of a hill town with a history and character all its own and a strong desire to return will remain.
